I’m Davis Fields, a lifelong Bay Area native and chair of Campbell’s Planning Commission. Since 2020, I’ve served on two city commissions, working to preserve what makes Campbell special while preparing it for the future.
My wife and I chose Campbell to raise our twins because neighbors know each other, kids thrive, and iconic parks, events, and small businesses bring people together.
I'm running for City Council in District 4 (West Campbell) to bring a practical, prepared, and collaborative approach to Campbell’s future.
Growing Thoughtfully, Preserving Campbell’s Character: I’ll support well-planned housing at a range of price points while respecting established neighborhoods, focusing higher-density growth near transit and along commercial corridors equipped to support it. Across more than 70 Planning Commission meetings, I’ve worked to make new housing better for future residents and surrounding neighborhoods.
Keeping Neighborhoods Safe and Welcoming: I'll keep investing in safe streets, parks, and the public spaces where neighbors connect. On the Civic Improvement Commission, I helped expand Campbell's mural program and fund library, senior, and youth programs that bring our community together.
Helping Local Businesses Thrive: I'll keep working to fill empty storefronts with the neighborhood businesses residents want. I led the permit audit that became Campbell's Conditional Use Permit Streamlining Ordinance, helping reduce unnecessary delays for local businesses.
Fixing What’s Broken: Campbell is a great town, but not everything is working as well as it should. I’ll manage Campbell’s budget responsibly and push for a real long-term plan for aging facilities.
I show up prepared, I sweat the details, and I'll make District 4 a priority.

What I Stand For
1. Growing Thoughtfully, Preserving Campbell’s Character
Supporting well-planned housing at a range of price points while respecting established neighborhoods means making smart choices about where and how Campbell grows. We can welcome more neighbors while preserving the small-town feel that makes Campbell special by directing higher-density housing near transit and commercial corridors equipped to support it.
Campbell needs more homes that people at different stages of life can afford. Teachers, first responders, nurses, young families, and seniors should all have a better chance to live in the community they serve and love. That means expanding housing choices while respecting the scale and character of established neighborhoods.
Although Sacramento has limited what cities can control, the City Council still has important tools, including setting long-term zoning policy, negotiating with developers, and making every project the best it can be for both new residents and existing neighborhoods. On the Planning Commission, I’ve helped secure meaningful improvements to real projects, from landscaping and screening that protect nearby homes to murals that improve their surroundings. On the City Council, I’ll continue advocating for well-planned housing at a range of price points while respecting the neighborhoods around it.
2. Keeping Neighborhoods Safe and Welcoming
Keeping residents safe is a city's first responsibility. I'll continue supporting investments in public safety while making it easier and safer to get around Campbell. That means improving streets, sidewalks, and crosswalks from the routes children use to get to school to commercial corridors like Hamilton Avenue.
Just as important is investing in the places that bring our community together. Our parks, downtown, and local events are what give Campbell its small town feel. I'll work to keep neighborhood parks like John D. Morgan welcoming and well maintained while protecting the public spaces where neighbors meet, families gather, and community life happens.
On the Civic Improvement Commission, I helped expand the city's downtown mural program and allocate funding to library, senior, and youth programs that strengthen our community. I'll bring that same commitment to investing in the public spaces and community programs that make Campbell a place people are proud to call home.

3. Helping Local Businesses Thrive
My approach is simple: fill our empty storefronts with the businesses Campbell residents want, and make it faster and easier for them to open.
That's exactly what I worked to accomplish on the Planning Commission through the Conditional Use Permit Streamlining Ordinance. I helped cut unnecessary red tape so neighborhood restaurants, dental offices, tutoring centers, and other community-serving businesses can open sooner instead of getting stuck in lengthy hearings.
On Council, I’ll work with property owners to fill vacant storefronts, recruit the restaurants, shops, and services residents want, and continue cutting unnecessary delays that keep businesses from opening. Helping local businesses start, stay, and grow will create a more vibrant community and strengthen the sales tax base that funds our library, parks, and public safety.
4. Fixing What’s Broken
In both my career and commission service, I dig into complex plans, weigh tradeoffs, ask tough questions, and bring people together to fix what’s not working.
Campbell is facing real budget pressures from rising costs and uncertain revenues, and those challenges require thoughtful planning, not wishful thinking. After six years serving on two city commissions, I understand how City Hall works and where improvements can be made. I’ll focus on tackling root causes, spending taxpayer dollars wisely, and strengthening Campbell’s financial foundation so we can continue investing in the services residents count on.
Making Campbell even better also means planning for the long term. The city’s own assessment identified millions in deferred maintenance across Campbell’s facilities, and the Community Center pool reached the end of its useful life after operating for decades beyond expectations. Deferring major decisions only makes them more expensive. I’ll push for a long-term capital plan that puts real numbers on the table, funds our highest priorities first, and leaves Campbell stronger for the next generation.

About Davis Fields
I'm a lifelong Bay Area native, born in Mountain View. Seven years ago, my wife, Kira, and I chose Campbell because we fell in love with its small-town character. Since then, we've welcomed our twin boys and have become even more invested in this community's future. I graduated from Bellarmine College Prep, then earned my degree in Political Science and Communications from Boston College.
I'm a diehard Warriors, 49ers, and Giants fan, and I love to go all-out for the holidays by decorating the house to bring joy to the neighborhood. Most days you'll find me chasing my twins around Campbell's parks and playgrounds.
Civic service. I’ve served Campbell on two city commissions since 2020, chairing both. On the Civic Improvement Commission, I helped expand the downtown mural program and set discretionary budgets supporting library, senior, and youth programs. I joined the Planning Commission in 2022, where I’ve improved housing projects based on neighborhood feedback and led an audit of 105 Conditional Use Permits that resulted in Campbell’s permit-streamlining reforms.
Professional. I’m a Director of Product Management at Meta, where I’ve spent more than a decade bringing teams together to solve complex problems and leading teams behind the Facebook design experience. Across my career I've shipped products people love: Amazon Family Library, the new Facebook.com, and the Next Issue digital magazine app that's now part of Apple News+.
